As these challenging and extraordinary times continue, the NEC Team is working hard behind the scenes in preparation for the return to events.
We continue to follow the advice of Public Health England and the Government in relation to the COVID-19 outbreak and our top priority remains the welfare of our staff, customers, suppliers and visitors.
It has been a privilege for the NEC Group to have assisted our brilliant NHS in the build of NHS Nightingale and the fight against COVID-19. As of May the facility was placed on standby, and whilst we stand committed to helping tackle the challenges presented by the virus, we also look forward to the resumption of events at our venue.
Many events have been rescheduled and we would like to thank our customers and visitors for their ongoing patience as this process is undertaken. For the latest confirmed information on upcoming events, please visit our What’s On section.
Our return to business preparations are progressing well. We have outlined the key steps that we’re planning to create a safe and controlled environment for events to take place at the NEC, in our NEC Venue Protect. The easing of social distancing from 2m to 1m-plus, as of 4th July, enhances the prospect of a swift return to event activity and we welcome further easing of measures by the Government, whilst always keeping the protection and safety of people as our principal priority.
Along with venues across the UK, we are in conversation with our industry Associations over the return to event activity, which has led to the formation of Project Confidence in association with AEO, AEV and ESSA. Project Confidence will provide a unified approach to communications surrounding renewed confidence in live events.
We also continue to monitor the actions of other industries as they return to business, such as the retail sector so we can continue to ensure we are implementing best practice measures
Elsewhere on the NEC Campus, Resorts World Birmingham reopened a number of its retail stores last week, with measures in place to ensure the health and safety of visitors, whilst The Bear Grylls Adventure is planning a reopening of the attraction in the coming weeks. The Crowne Plaza, Hilton Metropole and Moxy Birmingham NEC remain closed.
Further venue updates will be published on our website homepage and follow our social media channels for more news and content.
