We have been notified by National Highways that there will be a full weekend closure of the M42 from 9pm on Friday 9th February until 5am on Monday 12th February.
This is to complete emergency demolition works due to damage caused by a vehicle striking a bridge.
Until then, M42 Southbound will be reduced to two lanes between Junction 7-6. National Highways have advised all road users to continue to allow extra time for their journeys or seek alternative routes.
During the closure, visitors travelling on the M6 are advised to leave the M6 at Junction 4 and follow the signs for the NEC. Visitors travelling southbound on the M42 will have to leave the motorway at junction 9 and follow the A446 southbound, before following signs to the NEC.
