Tips to help you tackle your new year’s resolutions

Hang on in there, if you’re anything like us you are probably starting to crack and are tempted to break the resolutions that seemed so motivating at the start of the month. Here’s some handy tips to help you keep going…

1. Get Outside

Even if you’re not a natural outdoors person, it’s proven that connecting with nature and the environment can help reduce stress levels. So, whether that’s taking a leisurely stroll, jogging a quick lap of the block, watching the sunset, or embarking on a strenuous hike simply going outside in the fresh air will do you the world of good.

If you’re looking for new ways to explore the outdoors, then don’t miss the National Outdoor Expo this March. Join some of the world’s greatest outdoor enthusiasts for further tips and inspiration. There’s also a brilliant article on how to find a more balanced life in nature on their website here.

2. If you’re looking to start a new hobby or put a skill into practice:

There’s no better way to see in the new year than learning something new or thinking about different challenges you could take on. Not only does this help with personal growth, but it could also lead to enhanced confidence and increased happiness.

Come along to the UK's BIGGEST mixed craft show The Creative Craft show at the NEC and take part in various craft-based workshops for all levels, learn something new in our talks and demonstrations and see creations come to life on the catwalk! You can even try out products and crafts in mini make and take sessions for as little as £4 a session.

3. If your goal is to get more exercise

Keep yourself motivated in your fitness goals by rewarding the small milestones along the way. Take up a new sport and track your progress, join a class, or come along to a convention with other like-minded individuals. After all, there is power in numbers and it’s much easier to be disciplined when those around you can hold you accountable.

Any passionate cyclists won’t want to miss the National Cycling Show coming to the NEC this June, which allows enthusiasts to achieve their cycling goals through motivational tips, and the latest advice on the best equipment the industry has to offer.

4. Eat More Healthily:

One of the most sustainable ways to improve your overall health and wellbeing would be to introduce more whole foods to your diet such as vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds, and wholegrains. If it’s not something you’re used to eating, then a useful tip would be to add these to your meals slowly and consistently each day.

5. Treat yourself and enjoy more feel-good experiences:

New years resolutions provide us with a great opportunity to approach the year with a positive attitude and a strong desire for change. Instead of focusing purely on the negative attributes we want to alter, why not focus on the traits we like and the activities we enjoy and want to spend more time doing in general?

Prioritise your leisure time together with your friends and family and schedule in time simply for the sake of having fun! If you want to get your fill of feel-good, positive experiences then check out some of the enjoyable shows we have coming up this season including Crufts, Insomnia The Gaming Festival, the Toy Collectors Fair and much more.
