Spotlight on new trade shows coming to the NEC in 2022

The NEC is welcoming a full roster of new shows in 2022, with a collection of trade shows set to bring communities in key sectors together. Here we take a look at three shows coming to the NEC soon.

Manufacturing and Engineering week

A celebration of the best in UK manufacturing and engineering excellence and innovation launches at the NEC 6-10 June 2022, and includes the launch of three sector specific events; Design Engineering Expo, Engineering Expo and Manufacturing Expo.

The UK remains a global force for manufacturing and engineering; driving innovation, leading on the industrial agenda, the green economy and industry 4.0, however in a post-COVID and post-Brexit world, Britain’s standing, and its future, will require engineering and manufacturing to grow and strengthen.

Manufacturing and Engineering Week or M&E Week seeks to celebrate the sector, showcasing innovation, sharing successes and future insight, raise critical discussion and is a destination for professionals to source suppliers and solutions in order to secure the right partners to keep them competitive and grow the UK sector.

Running alongside the exhibitions will be a full programme of free to attend content, including keynotes from industry leaders, practical how to sessions and workshops.

Inaugural Birmingham Black Business Show

The show, taking place at the NEC 18 June 2022, will highlight the achievements and contributions Black businesses have made to the economy. Attendees will gain cutting-edge insight and advice in entrepreneurship, leadership, soft skills and cultural development from some of the UK’s leading Black business owners.

A stellar committee of Birmingham business leaders has been announced that will shape and drive the launch of the Birmingham Black Business Show. The show is committed to inspiring change for Black business owners and career professionals in the Midlands and surrounding areas.

The Birmingham Black Business Show team has convened some of the region’s leading Black entrepreneurs, growth experts and allies to form a steering committee that will meet monthly at the HSBC UK’s headquarters in Centenary Square, Birmingham. The committee is being chaired by multi-award-winning entrepreneur and brand expert, Tru Powell.

“I am delighted to see Birmingham will be hosting the Birmingham Black Business Show for the first time this summer,” said Mr Powell who is also Creative & Events Director for Aston Performing Arts Academy. “Birmingham is the most entrepreneurial city outside London and therefore I am excited to see the support this event will provide Black business owners and career professionals in Birmingham and beyond. I am equally excited to chair a diverse and talented committee, predominantly from The Midlands that will help shape the look and feel of the event. Exciting times for Birmingham!”

HSBC UK, who employ over 2500 people at their Birmingham city centre headquarters, has been announced as headline partners of the show in a two-year deal for 2022 and 2023.

InstallerSHOW doubles in size as it moves to the NEC

InstallerSHOW – the UK’s biggest heating, plumbing and electrical trade show, moves to the NEC this June 21-23.

Apart from doubling in size, InstallerSHOW is joining forces with many of the industry’s leading trade bodies who are playing key roles in the UK’s accelerating drive towards net-zero.

“It’s hugely reassuring to have trade bodies of this calibre and influence joining us at InstallerSHOW,” said Managing Director Michael Costain. “The amount of collaboration and discussion that needs to take place over the next few years as we chart our journey towards net-zero will be immense.

“So, we’re delighted that InstallerSHOW can play its part in facilitating valuable face-to-face engagement with the industry’s leading trade bodies, manufacturers, decision-makers and installers to effect change.”

Joining this list is Hydrogen UK – a trade association committed to the development and deployment of hydrogen solutions. Hydrogen is seen as essential to delivering net zero in the UK, and the focus is on acting now to scale hydrogen solutions to deliver cost-effective deep decarbonisation.

Many of InstallerSHOW’s trade body and association partnerships will provide content sessions in the elemental theatres – including The Property Energy Professionals Association (PEPA), a trade body representing companies that are engaged in the provision of Energy Performance Certificates.

InstallerSHOW is also delighted welcome Actuate UK – an engineering services alliance and the umbrella body for UK engineering services.
