NEC represents event industry in The Apprentice

If you managed to catch BBC One's The Apprentice in February, you may have spotted a couple of NEC faces...

Our Director of Property, Partnerships and Media, Andy Cole, and Conference and Events Senior Marketing Manager, Gemma Piggott, had starring roles in this week's episode, representing the NEC as the major corporate client for the candidates' latest task.

Piggott said: “It was an amazing experience to be involved with a show that I’ve loved watching for years. It was such a surreal moment to see Andy and me on screen representing the NEC and the live events industry on primetime television, as one of the episode’s major corporate clients.

“Despite hiding behind a cushion to watch it, I’m so proud to have been involved in such a unique opportunity and get the NEC namechecked by Lord Sugar and Karren Brady and broadcast into the living rooms of several million viewers.”

The candidates had to design, brand and pitch their own electric driverless pod, and pitch it to clients looking to lease driverless vehicles. The team that made the biggest overall profit drove away with the win.

With each episode amassing approximately 5 million viewers, this was a great opportunity to get the NEC name-checked multiple times in a primetime programme. Andy and Gemma did a fantastic job - congratulations both!
