Secret Cinema will be heading to the Midlands for the first time in July, as ‘GREASE: The Live Experience’ comes to NEC Birmingham.
The event forms part of the venue’s wider diversification strategy, exploring new event formats and opportunities that take advantage of the versatile NEC Campus, especially during periods which are traditionally quieter for exhibitions.
Based on the Paramount Pictures film, the NEC will be transformed into the summer of 1959, letting audiences step back in time to Rydell High’s senior year during one of the most iconic movie musicals of all time.
Ian Taylor, Managing Director for Conventions & Exhibitions at the NEC, said: “Our versatile venue is the perfect place to host the first ever Secret Cinema event in Birmingham.
“We cannot wait for visitors to see the outdoors at the NEC transformed into the world of Grease and be immersed in one of the world’s most iconic movie musicals. With over 45 years’ experience in live events, we will help create memorable and unforgettable experiences for visitors this Summer.”

Secret Cinema has a strong reputation for trailblazing storytelling through spectacular, cinematic extravaganzas spans 15 years and over 70 productions worldwide. From intimate grassroots film screenings in abandoned buildings, to epic productions in open spaces worldwide.
