The NEC has announced that its Venue General Manager, Linda Ritchie, will retire on the 30th June after 26 years of service.
Linda was appointed Venue General Manager ten years ago and has since overseen an extensive portfolio of world-class events, including many of the NEC’s flagship shows like Spring Fair, Autumn Fair, Motorcycle Live, IMHX and the Motorhome and Caravan Show. She has also overseen major venue developments, including the transformation of the Piazza, helping to enhance the overall visitor and organiser experience.
Known for her exceptional work ethic, determination and unwavering commitment to the industry, Linda will be greatly missed by colleagues, clients and partners alike.
The NEC is also delighted to announce that Gillian Kiamil will join as Venue G eneral Manager from Olympia on 1st June, ensuring a smooth transition.
Gillian brings more than 25 years of experience in the events industry. She began her career at DMG World Media and has since built an impressive track record across multiple venues, delivering a wide range of events including concerts, fashion shows and large-scale exhibitions, as well as major fixtures such as The London International Horse Show.
She played a key role in the closure of Earl’s Court and the transition of 80% of its event portfolio to Olympia. Most recently, Gillian has led delivery of the £1.6bn regeneration of Olympia, a landmark project that has significantly enhanced the venue’s position as a destination for leading global events.
Sarah Harvey, NEC Deputy CEO and Managing Director of Exhibitions, said: “Linda has made an extraordinary contribution to the NEC over the past 26 years. Her deep knowledge of the venue, her passion for the industry and her commitment to delivering for our customers have left a lasting legacy. She will be hugely missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of working with her.
“We are also incredibly excited to welcome Gillian to the team. She brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record in delivering and transforming major venues and events. I look forward to working with her as we continue to evolve the NEC’s offering for our customers and partners.”
