English OPEN 2026: Discover Pickleball in Birmingham

The English OPEN 2026 invites Birmingham to experience one of the world’s fastest-growing sports — pickleball — at the largest indoor tournament of its kind. Taking place at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), this landmark event offers a unique opportunity to watch top players in action and discover a sport that is captivating millions around the globe.

Pickleball is a fun, fast-paced paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Played on a smaller court with a solid paddle and a lightweight ball, it’s easy to learn but highly competitive at the top level. Its accessibility and social nature have made it hugely popular with players of all ages and abilities, while its speed and skill make it an exciting spectator sport.

Since launching in 2019, the English OPEN has grown rapidly, attracting over 2,300 players from 45 countries in 2025. In 2026, the move to the NEC allows the event to expand even further, creating an electrifying atmosphere for both participants and visitors.

Spectators can expect a truly immersive experience. The tournament will feature 60 ProFlex coated courts set within one large, unified arena, formed by opening three exhibition halls into a single space. This means non-stop action, wherever you look — from fast-paced rallies and tactical doubles play to high-stakes knockout matches.

Wide walkways and a central Vendor Village ensure a comfortable and engaging environment, where visitors can explore equipment, meet partners, and soak up the vibrant community spirit that defines pickleball. Improved scheduling also means more continuous play throughout the day, making it easier to drop in and enjoy the excitement.

Whether you’re a sports enthusiast, a curious first-time viewer, or looking for a lively day out, the English OPEN 2026 is the perfect chance to experience pickleball at its very best. Come along to the NEC and see why this dynamic sport is taking the world by storm.

Our Vendor Village will feature pickleball equipment brands and booths dedicated to health and wellbeing, holiday destinations and much more.
