The Warley National Model Railway Exhibition, organised by the local Warley Model Railway Club, will have their 24th show at the NEC and their 49th Annual Exhibition overall this year. Recognised world-wide as being a high quality show, offering all that is best in model railways. There will be in excess of ninety layouts featuring all scales and gauges, many different time periods and parts of the world. Demonstrators and Societies are always willing to talk and the Trade element offer everything you could possibly imagine
One of the exhibition’s features is that it always has a full sized locomotive as its centrepiece – this year is no exception as there will be four of them. No. 6880 Betton Grange, which is a new build to a Great Western Railway design will be accompanied by two of the three Vale of Rheidol Railway locomotives No’s 7 Owain Glyndwr and No. 9 Prince of Wales together with the diminutive ‘Effie’ from the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway.
There is always plenty for families and in particular children at the Exhibition. This year there will be a number of layouts designed for children to operate and a Junior Modellers Workshop for the budding engine drivers of the future to try their hand at. All this, and plenty more for the dedicated modeller, the casual observer and anyone else with an interest in railways.
