Founded by rugby legends Will Greenwood and Austin Healey, the event will be on June 25th and 26th 2016 and has secured the participation of 13 National Governing Bodies, the support of Sport England and some of Britain’s finest athletes.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and legendary ballerina Darcey Bussell have put their names to the Sports Show as well as Olympic and Paralympic medallists Beth Tweddle, Anthony Ogogo and Jonnie Peacock.
The event will take place six weeks ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympics at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham and will offer an experience like no other to kids and families from all over the country. More than 30 sports will be available to try all under one roof with masterclasses and coaching with some of the country’s greatest sporting heroes.
Will Greenwood said: “I have played sport for as long as I can remember and grew up with rugby all around me, but I have always been keen to try my hand at anything and that is what we want to offer all the kids and parents coming to the Sports Show.”
More than 50,000 visitors are expected to attend the event with a proportion of tickets dedicated to the Sports Show charity partners. Our partners will help to ensure that we attract and serve, a broad and inclusive range of visitors.
Ambassador Darcey Bussell said: ‘This is going to be an exceptional experience for all the family. Every child and parent will be able to take part in so many different activities and learn about sports together. It will be a very exciting couple of days for everyone, there will be coaching by experts and ambassadors available for all.’
Ambassador Jordan Henderson added: ‘The Sports Show is going to be a fantastic event for everyone to enjoy. What the Sports Show is offering is totally unique and it is going to be a great day out for all the family.’
