The UK Drone Show to launch at the NEC

The UK Drone Show 2015 – the first public exhibition in the UK dedicated to the safe use of drone and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology – will take place for the first time on 5 December at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC).

The exhibition will utilise the NEC’s indoor and outdoor space to showcase the use of drones and UAV technology and will offer visitors the chance to find out more about UAV Safety and Regulation and the latest micro drone technology.

Richard Wright, Exhibition Manager for the UK Drone Show, said: “The NEC provides us with the perfect space and an ideal location to host our launch show. Flying and product demonstrations are an integral part of the exhibition so flexible space was a huge consideration for us. The NEC offers us a blank canvas with plenty of floor space and height within halls, as well as a huge outdoor space. The venue is based in the heart of the country within a 3 hour drive time of 75% of the UK’s population and has fantastic transport links so is easily accessible for our visitors.”

Supported by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the show aims to attract all areas of the public sector that have an interest in owning, building and operating a drone in UK airspace.

David Gallagher, the NEC’s New Business Development Manager, said: “We are extremely excited to be welcoming the Drone Show to the NEC. The drone industry is relatively new but it is growing rapidly so we are delighted that we are going to be associated with the launch of its first dedicated exhibition. Shows that launch at the NEC have an average growth of 31% in year two so we are confident that we can really contribute to the success of the UK Drone Show in 2015 and beyond.”
