NEC responsive website goes live
Following the launch of the NEC’s industry-leading free visitor Wi-Fi earlier this year, the venue team has gone live with its new responsive website, a leading concept aimed at providing an optimal viewing experience across a wide range of devices from desktops to mobile phones.
Fast and convenient communications are essential to businesses and individuals and the NEC is committed to delivering a market-leading level of service, answering the changing needs of organisers, exhibitors and visitors.
The new website - which can be found at www.thenec.co.uk – is one of the first in the industry to adopt a fully responsive platform.
“We’ve noticed that far more of our visitors are accessing the NEC website via a growing range of mobile and desktop devices. It’s therefore important we respond to their needs with a functional and effective website that gives them a consistent experience,” says Gail Webb, the NEC Group’s Head of Digital.
“In addition to being fully responsive, we’ve employed some successful principles from e-commerce websites such as applying more relevant search filters for our events, so not only are we making it easier for visitors to connect with us, but we’ve improved the overall navigation and user experience.”
The NEC welcomes around 2.1 million visitors each year to around 140 trade and consumer shows and over 400 conferences and live events, and is the UK’s number one choice for organisers and visitors.
“As well as adding this new functionality, we have also taken the opportunity to review all content to ensure that the information remains accurate, fully up to date and easily accessible,” explains Martin Clarke, the NEC Venue Marketing Director. “The new site is now tailored in terms of who we talk to, how we connect, and what information we give our customers.
“We are the venue of choice for our visitors, and the new website provides a strong focus for us in retaining that profile, while making it easier to interact through a variety of social media channels.
“We’re committed to delivering the best online customer experience and further innovations will take place when we move into phase two of the development.
