The NEC will return as headline sponsor of Event Industry Charity Golf Day “In the Rough”, which takes place at the at the highly acclaimed Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club on Thursday 17 July 2014.
The annual event, a popular fixture in the industry calendar and a generous donor to charity, is organised by ESSA (Event Supplier and Services Association) and supported by the AEO (Association of Event Organisers), AEV (Association of Event Venues) and industry promotional body FaceTime, in addition to Exhibition News, the event’s media partner.
The concept is based on the highly successful BECA and ESSA golf days and brings together organisers, venues and service suppliers in a day of fun, entertainment and networking.
“This is a great opportunity for the NEC to support In the Rough organisers ESSA in delivering a fantastic industry-wide event where organisers, venues and contractors can get together outside of the usual workplace to continue to build relationships, while at the same time supporting two great charities,” says Stephen Richards, NEC Sales Director.
“As a venue, we’re really appreciative of the support we get from contractors - which in turn we know influences organisers and exhibitors and highlights our ability to deliver, one of our great strengths - so it's great to give something back.”
Every year In the Rough raises money for two charities chosen by the steering committee, one that works in the UK and one that works overseas, and last year’s event raised over £5,000. This year’s charities are Events for Namuwongo (overseas) - a charity that the NEC already supports directly - and The Lord's Taverners (UK).
“In the Rough has gone from strength to strength, and this year we're pulling out all the stops to make it an even greater day of golf, fun and fundraising in the wonderful surroundings of The Forest of Arden,” says Chris Skeith, ESSA Director. “We're very grateful to the NEC for their headline sponsorship of the event, and to Exhibition News for coming on board as media partners.”
